Help Us Close the Funding Gap at 52nd Street

Thank You! With the support of our many donors and a generous gift from the Boise Exchange Club, FACTS met its Phase One matching goal. Help us raise $112,290 by August 1, 2027, to secure federal funding for bridge construction.

The Foundation for Ada/Canyon Trail Systems, Inc. (FACTS) partnered with Garden City and Ada County to secure a $2,181,000 federal grant from COMPASS to construct a new pedestrian bridge over the Boise River between 52nd Street and Plantation Island. To use the federal funds, FACTS must raise local matching funds of  $130,000 in two payments.

Our Phase One payment of $17,710 will match bridge design funding and is due no later than August 1, 2026.

UPDATE  – THANK YOU!!!

As of June 3, thanks to our many donors and a major donation from the Boise Exchange Club, we met our Phase One match requirement of $17,710, enabling Ada County to access federal funds for bridge design.

FACTS will now focus on our Phase Two payment of $112,290 that will match bridge construction funding and is due by August 1, 2027.

We need YOUR help to raise the match and bridge the gap! Every dollar you give unlocks nearly $17 in federal funds already waiting to be spent.

Your entire donation supports the bridge fund. FACTS is staffed entirely by volunteers, has no paid employees and very low overhead.

Every Gift Moves Us Forward

The Greenbelt along the Boise River offers a safe, scenic pathway with few interruptions or detours. Unfortunately, there is a significant gap on the south side of the river between 52nd Street and Remington in Garden City, forcing users to take a half-mile detour (right) through a neighborhood dotted with a mix of residences and businesses, with motorized traffic and no sidewalks or pathways. Click to learn more about why we need the 52nd Street Bridge.

The project aims to enhance safety, efficiency, connectivity, and travel times for users on both sides of the river. It will provide travelers with a safe, scenic route to and from various public facilities, including the new Park at Expo and the adjacent Athletic Club Boise Soccer Stadium, Hawks Stadium, the Fairgrounds, and Garden City Hall and Library, and all of the parks and recreation areas along the Greenbelt from Boise to Eagle and points west.

HOW FACTS IS PARTICIPATING:  The FACTS Board of Directors established a special trust fund into which all donations in support of the bridge will be deposited.  The trust fund prohibits any expenditures except for the completion of the Bridge Project.  It is worth noting that ALL FACTS members are volunteers, including private citizens and representatives from Idaho cities, counties, and transportation organizations. FACTS does not have a single paid employee, meaning ALL of  your donation will support the design and construction of the 52nd Street Bridge

WHAT ARE THE DONOR BENEFITS:  You will become a contributor to a much-needed project that will benefit all users of the Greenbelt.  The Greenbelt has been a source of civic pride and accomplishment for 35 years. Because FACTS is a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit corporation, your donation will qualify as an income tax deduction. The FACTS Board’s resolution on the bridge fund is available here.

Bill worked closely with Garden City, Ada County and COMPASS to find and fund a solution to the dangerous detour at 52nd Street in Garden City. He is now committed to helping FACTS raise the local matching funds needed for Ada County to draw from a $2M federal grant that will fund design and construction of the 52nd Street Bridge.
