Thank You! With the support of our many donors and a generous gift from the Boise Exchange Club, FACTS met its Phase One matching goal. Help us raise $112,290 by August 1, 2027, to secure federal funding for bridge construction.

HELP COMPLETE A CRITICAL CONNECTION ON THE GREENBELT

A new pedestrian bridge spanning the Boise River will connect the Greenbelt at 52nd Street, eliminating a dangerous detour and creating a safer, continuous pathway for the community.

THE PROJECT

Foundation for Ada/Canyon Trail Systems (FACTS), in partnership with Garden City and Ada County, secured $2.18 million in federal funding to construct a new pedestrian bridge linking 52nd Street to existing pathways on Plantation Island. To access the federal grant, FACTS is raising local match of $130,000. Every $1 you donate to our match fund allows Ada County to access nearly $17 in federal funding for the bridge.

This long-planned connection will:

  • Remove a half-mile on-street detour
  • Improve safety for pedestrians and cyclists
  • Expand access across the Treasure Valley Greenbelt system

HELP CLOSE THE FUNDING GAP

To move forward, FACTS is raising

$112,290

in local matching funds due August 1, 2027.

FACTS Mission

The mission of FACTS volunteer membership is to close gaps in the greenbelt along the Boise River, creating connected pathways along the 64-mile route from the Lucky Peak Dam to the Snake River confluence, and to promote coherent corridors for active transportation throughout the valley.

One of FACTS’ most pressing projects in 2026 is to “Bridge the Gap” in the Greenbelt at 52nd Street in Garden City by building a bridge across the Boise River to existing Boise and Ada County Greenbelt pathways on Plantation Island. The new bridge will eliminate a dangerous 1/2 mile detour on surface streets. Learn more about this project or make a donation.

In addition to the Bridge project, FACTS members continue to focus on numerous Greenbelt issues, such as:

  • Creating an uninterrupted pathway to and through Eagle Island and on to a proposed pathway under a reconstructed Linder Road.
  • Creating and preserving pathway connections all along the Greenbelt.
  • Working with private and public entities to identify and create a coherent Greenbelt corridor west to the Snake River.
  • Working with public entities to create common standards for Greenbelt construction, maintenance, and safety.

Partner Agencies

FACTS board members are all volunteers, including private citizens and representatives from partner agencies, who meet monthly to discuss trail system connectivity issues in the Treasure Valley. Designing, building, managing, and maintaining the trail systems that interconnect throughout the valley can be quite complex. FACTS serves as a non-partisan platform where stakeholders come together to share information, ideas, project details, and best practices.
